How to Use Old Kurtis or Tunics in New Style

21:17

The other day I was looking into my wardrobe and what I found was that the majority of my staples were some or the other form of kurtis or tunics. I have all, casual kurtis, festival kurtis, office wear and everything else. My wardrobe encompasses traditional as well as western tunics. And seeing this I was amazed, this much have I been adorning kurtis. Then a thought crossed through my mind, that if it is the case with me than with many other girls. And then what, it just made me thing harder, research and write up this blog. My research mainly concluded with the facts that how kurtis came into existence and what new can be done now.

Needless to say, tunics or kurti as we call it, has become an integral part of our daily life. Almost all women wear it and many of them have kurti as their daily attire. But from where did it emerge? Have we ever paid any heed to this? Worry not; I am here for telling you all about kurtis including the new style with the old staples.

This ever challenged and changed attire holds its origin from the Mughal Empire. Originally, the men and women wore it. Their style of wearing it was baggy and embellished. Over the time, the kurtis have transformed drastically. And its manifestation is seen in anarkali kurtis, A-line kurtis, flared kurtis, indo-western kurtis, short kurtis, and many more.

Earlier I believed it’s us who embraced staples, but seeing this enormity of kurtis, my views have changed entirely. It’s actually the kurtis and other staples like this which are embracing us, humans in its garb.
You must be having many kurtis that belong from your old days. Now without much wait, you should alter those kurtis and make them ones that perfectly blend with the style of present time. To help and assist you, I have listed the ways through which your old clothes can take a new and refreshed form. Here it goes-

·         The Old Anarkali Suit:

Not much time before, but I guess a decade ago, all of us were crazy after the anarkali suits that were long and had wide round. Now is the time that you take that anarkali suit out from the corner of your wardrobe and change it for the best. You can make a high-low, trail cut and C-cut kurti out of your anarkali suit. Enrich your new dress with beautiful embellishments or any sort of embroidery that suits to your new kurti best. I am pretty sure that your new dress will look astounding and you can use it as one of your festival kurtis as well.

·         Use the Georgette Kurti Best:

Georgette has been a fabric that has been used since decades. If you have some georgette kurtis of your old times and you don’t wear it just because it is out-of-fashion now. You don’t have to worry much now. The alternative for your georgette is just here. You can use it in a shirt cum kurti. Basically, all you need to do is get a rich fabric that suits the fabric and print of your existing one. Then just choose a good designer and ask him to make you a shirt-cum-kurti like the one that is displayed in the picture. You can wear this kurti at parties and even casually. When you will move on, wearing this kurti, you are certain to grab many compliments.

·         A long Kurti into a Shorter One:

All of us have had and still have long kurtis, the ones that are below our knees. Now just cut it short and make it a short kurti. I know you must have heard about this alternative earlier as well. But the change that I am suggesting is, keep the kurti a really short one that is just below your humps. Make sure that you have enriched it with aesthetic embroidery like sequins work and thread work. You can wear this kurti anywhere, be it a party you are heading for or at your work. This tunic will suit for all occasions. A glimpse of this tunic is here.

You must have kurtis that you like, but don’t wear it some reasons. You don’t have to keep that aesthetic staple for the bin but use it for something that is awe-inspiring. Make a one piece from a kurti that you like the most. All you need to do is that get another fabric that compliments your tunic’s fabric. Ask your designer to cut short the kurti to a length with which you are comfortable and can wear. Use the other fabric as a shrug or even a jacket will do fine. You will come out as a beautiful, confident lady since you are wearing a cloth that you like the most.

These were some of the alternatives available for you to use your old tunics and have a refreshed style. Your new silhouettes will work as festival kurtis, work kurtis, party wear kurtis and many more. Also you can use the ladies semi stitched suits and make something good out of it.
